RECCO system is an avalanche safety system based on radar technology which helps to search for victims of avalanches and snow-slides. The system consists of two parts: a detector and a reflector, the latter being a stable part of skiers’ equipment or outfit. The Recco detector is used to send out radar waves which, thanks to the reflection from
the Recco reflector, help the rescuers locate the exact position of the looked-for person. Thanks to this the Recco system is highly efficient and currently often used as a supplement to other life-saving methods.
